Prey | Poem

Artist Unknown
~X~
"She has no face, she has no name; a lost soul, The Devil to blame."
A fictional poem written and created by me.

PREY
There’s a girl, stranger than fiction
Her body, her mind, her soul
Twisted and torn; life in restriction.

She sits alone on the swinging tire of the willow tree
Isolated and consumed by thoughts
Crying to be free.

“Don’t give up. There is still hope left,” she’d say
Until The Devil returned
And cast that thought away.

A puppet in his eyes
A broken spirit
Toying with her until she dies.

And there alone, she weeps and wallows
Numb, she opens the bottle of pills
And downs them in five swallows.

As she waits, she picks a lonesome flower
Petal by petal
Reflecting in her final hour.
